More Specs From OnePlus One Released + Chance To Win Trip To Hong Kong

OnePlus One battery

One of the most hyped phones in tech circles would have to be the OnePlus One. We’ve yet to see pictures of this phone, and I’m already willing to pay $500+ to have one in my hands.

Earlier this month, we mentioned that OnePlus would be offering the OnePlus One for less that $400. We recently learned of several specs regarding the elusive smartphone. The device will include a 5.5” 1080p JDI display (400+ PPI), a 2.3Ghz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor, and a  3100 mAh battery with a “mystery technology” that will last a full day for even the most demanding users.

If the name JDI doesn’t sound familiar to you, maybe it’s because the joint venture isn’t common in North America. Japan Display Inc. is a  joint venture by Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi that’s known for their great displays. In addition, the display will feature TOL (Touch On Lens) modules which eliminates the distance between the touch sensor and display panel, while also being 300% more shatterproof than the competing OGS technology.

The screen will also be equipped with both CABC and DRAM technology. This new and innovative technologies sense when the contents on your screen are dynamic, and consume less energy when the image is static, allowing the vivid 5.5” display to consume even less power than normal 5.0” displays with the same brightness.

In an engineering feat that we are hoping to hear about close to the product lunch, OnePlus One will be a 5.5” screen in a 5.0” handset? Need proof? Believe it or not, according to our contacts at OnePlus, there is a OnePlus One under that Sony Xperia Z1, a 5” screen phone. Talk about mind-blowing front space ratios!

To help get the word out about the OnePlus One, OnePlus will be having a contest starting on March 19th at 9AM EDT (2PM CET and 6AM PDT!) to win a trip to Hong Kong, being among the first non-OnePlus staffers to touch and play with a OnePlus One! You can view more details regarding the contest here.
