As Facebook continues its blacklisting of conservatives, it’s no surprise that Facebook-owned Instagram is now going to start censoring memes.
You heard right… censoring f**king memes, people!
Here is an overview of the extent as reported via Poynter…
“When one of Facebook’s fact-checking partners, of which there are now 52 in more than 30 countries, rates a link, image or video as false, its future reach in the News Feed is decreased and users are warned if they try to share it. That program launched in December 2016 to cut down on the spread of misinformation.”
So right after Hillary lost to Trump, they decided to fake Russia collusion and launch an all out attack on content they didn’t agree with, and call it “misinformation.”
PJW of Summit News had this to say about Poynter and their affiliation as a fact-checker…
The Poynter Institute, which partners with Facebook, recently had to shut down its own database highlighting unreliable news sites “after discovering inconsistencies between sources used to build the database and its final report.”
They are not even attempting to be covert with their biased censorship at this point. Open and blatant censorship of conservative views are the new norm with these big social media tech giants. Stephanie Otway, a spokeswoman for Instagram, made the following statements…
“Our approach to misinformation is the same as Facebook’s — when we find misinfo, rather than remove it, we’ll reduce its distribution,”
“We can use image recognition technology to find the same piece of content on Instagram and take automatic action.”
“Instagram will remove false posts from the Explore tab and its hashtag result pages. That way, it’s harder for users to find bogus images and memes unless they already follow an account that’s posting them.”
The first problem, is that Instagram/FB want to be the content police on what is to be considered “misinfo” and what is not.
The second problem, is that they realize they can’t hire and pay enough people to comb through all of this content, so they devise an automated algorithm to do the work for them. This algorithm contains the same leftist bias of the leftists whom created it.
Hence, conservatives continue to get censored, and leftists are always in the clear.
