The Twitter monopoly strikes again! Twitpic, one of the first Twitter photo upload services will be shutting down September 25th. Twitpic hasn’t run out of cash or been pushed out of the spotlight by fierce competitors. A few weeks ago, Twitter contacted their legal department demanding that they abandon their trademark application or risk losing access to their (Twitter) API. This is quick unexpected, as Twitpic has been around since early 2008, and their trademark application has been in the USPTO since 2009.
You will be able to export all your photos and videos. Twitpic will advise users when this feature is live in the next few days.
