Rumor: Verizon To Have Exclusivity On New HTC One (M8) In-Store At Launch

Over the last few days, we’ve heard speculation that Verizon will have a U.S. exclusive on the all new HTC One (M8) for a two-week period. According to the rumor, Big Red (Verizon) would sell the phone starting at 1pm EDT today. That would be just a couple of hours after HTC officially unveils its latest flagship device. Verizon itself said on Facebook over the weekend (before editing the post) that they would have the phone “in our stores exclusively on 3.25.14.” The word “stores” is the key word here.

As we’ve come to learn on Monday, new reports were released that would clarifiy Verizon’s exclusivity period only covering sales made in brick and mortar stores, which would leave Sprint, AT&T & T-Mobile  with the opportunity to sell the device online and through phone sales.

According to one source, T-Mobile will start taking online orders for HTC newest device starting at midnight on Tuesday evening. It is to be note that a system glitch is stopping Magenta from taking orders immediately after the unveiling of the device, which is happening later today in New York City, and simultaneously in London, at 11am EDT (3PM GMT).

And if it does turn out that Verizon’s exclusivity for the all new HTC One (M8) is indeed limited to in-store sales, we would imagine that besides T-Mobile, we would see AT&T and Sprint start accepting online and phone orders tomorrow as well for the eagerly awaited handset.
