Pete Lau, an ex-Oppo VP has made it official today that his new company OnePlus will be partnering with Cyanogen on its first smartphone, the “OnePlus One.”

OnePlus & Cyanogen will work closely together to build this debut OnePlus device, which will run on a custom version of CyanogenMod’s Android OS with tons of special features and tweaks. This comes just weeks after Oppo announced that they would start shipping the Oppo N1 with official CyanogenMod support.

The CyanogenMod team will work in tandem with us to combine the best hardware with the best software. They are developing a custom version of CyanogenMod with special features and tweaks. We think the end result will be quite spectacular!

The details regarding the actual specs of the device hardware are unknown at this time, but with news that Oppo will be tasked with building the actual device, you can expect to see something that takes cues from Oppo N1 & Find 5/7.
