There is a new project going on at The Internet Archive – Console Living Room, which will allow you to enjoy those old school 80’s classic console games once again. The Console Living Room project brings free online play through the JSMESS emulator system played on your modern day browser, with no additional plugins or settings needed. You’ll be able to enjoy the Atari 2600, Atari 7800 ProSystem, the ColecoVision, the Astrocade, Sega SG-1000, and the Magnovox Odyssey systems.
Getting right into gameplay is simple. All you need to do is click on the screenshot or “Emulate This” button for each individual game, and on your browser the games will just start to run. You can even enter into ‘full screen mode.’ Keep in mind that some older browsers may not be compatible with the emulator. Currently there is no sound support, but the developers have stated that sound will be added soon. Currently you can choose from about 1,000 games of which include some awesome classic titles, such as Pacman, Tank Attack, Sonic Invader… and you get the picture.
