Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumor Compilation

Samsung Galaxy

There is so much to be said about the successor of the very popular Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone. Will it be named the Galaxy S5 or Galaxy F? How about the design, hardware and other features? There is much flying around the tech rumor mill right now with a possible product launch coming in Q1 of 2014.

The Galaxy S5 specs get spotted in the wild?: A mysterious Samsung phone, called the Samsung SM-G900S, popped up via the GFXBench website on Dec 4, 2013. The device features a 2K display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. The device is speculated to have a 5.25-inch Super AMOLED display, a 16-megapixel camera, a 4,000 mAh battery, 3GB of RAM and running the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

Samsung may be releasing a total of five smartphones in Q1 of 2014: Korean techsite ETNews posits that Samsung has plans to release FIVE new smartphones in Q1 of 2014. Of course the most anticipated of these devices is the Galaxy S5. Others include a lesser version of the Note 3, and Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite – which is supposed to be a hybrid of the Galaxy Grand and Grand 2.

Galaxy S5 to come with metal body: A Japanese website called EMSOne has come out and said that the Galaxy S5 will tout a full metal body design. This rumor was sparked by sources that say Samsung purchased up to 30 million unibody metal cases from Taiwanese parts supplier, Catcher.

Wrap-around display possible in the next Galaxy flagship device: Bloomberg has come out and said that according to sources, the next flagship Galaxy device will feature a display that will wrap around the edges of the phone, which will allow one to view notifications and messages in an entirely different way. The display is said to wrap on 3 sides of the device, and each side could serve a purpose independent of each other.

The Galaxy S5’s camera to be much improved over the Galaxy S4: According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S5 may boast a 16-megapixel camera that uses optical image stabilization technology for those times you don’t have a tripod. Patent Bolt claims the camera will be 13-megapixel and provide photos that will be up to 8X brighter than the current technology. They also backup the rumor that there will be a much improved anti-shake ability.

And finally, Samsung has come out and said that devices released in 2014 and 2015 will get the Isocell camera sensor, which provides a much better image quality. The Isocell tech is designed for mobile devices and aims at capturing cleaner, higher-quality images. Isocell reduces pixel size without requiring larger cameras. That results in more light passing through the pixels, in return improving image quality.
