Telus is making the options for their subscribers to check their data usage while traveling outside of Canada a more simplistic task. Earlier this week, Telus launched Travel Tracker, a web portal to manage your roaming data usage.
Travel Tracker is a free web portal accessible via the smartphone’s web browser to help TELUS customers manage their data usage and costs in real-time while travelling to the United States or internationally, simply by visiting t.telusroam.com on any TELUS 4G device.
When you arrive in the country you are visiting, you’ll receive a free text message informing you of the voice, SMS and data rates in that country, roaming options and now, a link to the Travel Tracker portal.
The Travel Tracker portal should help give you a peace of mind while traveling, avoiding the chances of bill shock.
While using Travel Tracker, you can also:
- Purchase travel passes (50 to 90 per cent off regular pay-per-use rates).
- Unblock your data service when they’re blocked at high thresholds of usage.
- Get helpful roaming information and tips
While I do agree that Telus has significantly lowered their roaming charges in the last few months, Canadians still do have the option of purchasing local SIM cards or by using more budget-minded services such as Roam Mobility.
